A Special Date

Skylee and her Grandpa got to go on a special date last night to Tuacahn to go and see Little Mermaid. She was SO excited. Asking me all day when it was time to go. She also made sure to let everyone who we ran into yesterday that she got to go to Tuacahn with her Grandpa- just her no one else! She literally was jumping up and down when he got here to pick her up. She had so much fun and was so happy when she got home. Thanks Grandpa for a fun date!

FHE at the lake

Dan and Jeff are training for a triathlon this month and so go out to swim at the lake often. So we decided to make a family night out of it. We headed out to Quail with our sweet friends the Ridings and the Adams. :) Man, I love these families! We had some dinner, played in the water, chatted and had a family home evening lesson. Here are some pics of our Family Home Evening lesson. Cassie did an awesome lesson on baptism and the wise man and the foolish man building their homes on the rock and the sand. A Major Undertaking

So my sweet next door nieghbor offered to take my kids for three hours today since I have been on an organizing rampage. (Thanks to my talented friend, Danelle, for getting me started). So Jeff was off so we decided to tackle the toughest room in the house- Skylee's room. AKA Play room, bed room, used to be office room, storage room. Before Jaston was born this was our office then we moved Skylee in here and kept most of our office stuff packed into the closet. Needless to say it needed some SERIOUS help. So I forgot to pull out the camera til about half way through but it might have been the best the very beginning was SUPER scary. Anyhow here are the before (well- middle/before) and the after. I am super proud of what we got done. We literally filled up an entire car full of DI stuff.

What's the Truth?

I just finished have scripture study with Skylee and this was our conversation:

Sky: Mom read the part about Alma getting kicked out by the people
Me: (Read it)
Sky: Why did they kick him out?
Me: Because they didn't like what he had to teach them
Sky: What did they teach?
Me: What do you think?
Sky: I think they thought that Jesus wasn't real and didn't want to listen to Him or Heavenly Father.
Me: I think you are right
Sky: (thinking for a minute) But what is the truth?
Me: What do you think?
Sky: (Pause, and thinking) I think Jesus is right
Me: Me too

He Did It!

So Jeff is officially done with his Master's degree. He took and passed his test today to allow him to get his diploma. We are SO excited and so relieved. It hasn't been an easy road and this was a super tough test. You had to pass with an 80% and it was cumulative over the past two years. I could never have passed it but HE DID! I'm so excited and proud of my amazing husband for all of his hard work he has put into getting this degree. 

    He now is starting the process of applying for The Boards. If he passes that he will be a licensed Nurse Practitioner and who knows what that will mean for our future. Congratulations Babe!

Uh-oh!

This past weekend was my second immersion weekend for ICAN. That means I go up north for four days (away from my sweet family) and immerse myself in the ASL language. There is 15 participants in the program and we have 8 or so mentors Deaf and other amazing interpreters. We do 9 hours of workshops and other activities and games. I was super worried about not being able to talk for that long but you are still able to express yourself so it's not as hard as like completely silent. But I did miss my voice and chatting and when I met up with my aunt yesterday I just wanted to chat chat chat. :)

Jeff asked me while I was there if I felt it was worth it. You know I really did. I felt it really allows me to get more comfortable with the language. By using it so much you have to learn how to use it in different ways and stretch yourself. Also having language models like our Deaf mentors was a great help as well. The workshops were amazing and really gave me a lot to think about and work on in my skills. I have two big tests in Oct and Nov and am really trying to work so hard right now to improve my skills. If I could pass those tests I would be so excited. They are tough ones but I'm hoping if I can really focus for the next few months I can do it.

Anyhow, the main point of this post is to tell abt my daughter deciding she wanted a mullet and taking matters into her own hands. Luckily I wasn't home or I would have flipped. I do feel like I kept in pretty good control since Jeff was flipping and I had to be the "calm one." Regardless of my "acting" calm. I did miss my exit and ended up 15 min past my exit. Thankfully my sweet friend, Trista, came over and fixed the mullet. The front still has short pieces everywhere. I have to keep tiny topsy tails in constantly. When I take it out it makes me shudder ( don't tell Skylee but it is pretty ugly when not done). Jeff says it is a right of passage for little girls to do it I was just hoping Sky would skip that one. I have talked to her SO many times about not cutting her hair. Oh well, I guess it could be worse. And the only pics we had were cell pics so sorry!

A trip to the lake

Jeff is training for a triathlon next month so him and our friend, Dan, went out to the lake to swim. So I took the kids along and we played in the water while they practiced swimming. So I took the oportunity to play around with my camera. Here are the pics I got of my cute kiddos.
